The platforms
are unbeatable crash catchers. Shown here, they (along with the
handlebar's aluminum crash plugs) take the brunt of most crashes
and laydowns. All of the vital electronics, batteries and motor
are completely isolated (on flat ground), as are the 8" brake
discs, calipers and levers, forks, rims, chainring. . . essentially
everything. Footpegs can't offer that protection for your Jackal.
And how about
protection for you? See Rick's shins below. The platforms offer
a range of comfortable footing positions while allowing peg-like
action. Most riders, while standing, ride the back of the platform,
with the heel floating and the rail at midfoot. This offers the
leverage and mobility of pegs with crash protection for you and
bike.

"So there
I was, just minding my own business, Jackaling through the undeveloped
property near the shop at night. My 20 Watt halogen head lamps didn't
reveal the large concrete debris buried in the waist-high grass.
It glanced off the bottom right frame tube and smashed into the
platform square on, enough to knock me down with a serious jolt.
It chipped some paint off the rail and some skin off my shin, but
that's all. I couldn't help but imagine the disfigurement of my
toes and foot if they took this blow, peeking over some footpegs."
