| How
Fast? |
Top
speeds from 20-50mph, you decide, we'll design. Base model is 40mph.
Half-speed function (go far vs. go fast) at the flip of a switch
is an available accessory. |
| How
Far? |
Range,
of course, is dependant on a multitude of factors. Base model can
regularly achieve 15-20 mi, and up to 25+mi in extremely cautious
riding. It is recommended for the life of batteries to not regularly
discharge below 75%. This relates to a cycle range of 15mi for longest
battery life. |
| How
long to charge? |
Stock
Soneil 3A cc charger recovers about 5 miles per hour of charge,
thus full charge in 3-4 hours. Upgrade charger (9A) available on
request; full charge in about 1 hour. Always charge immediately
after use. Do not let batteries sit in a low state of charge. |
| Is
it street legal? |
That's
up to you. You must know the laws of your streets for mopeds/motorized
bicycles, etc. It's different in every state and sometimes varies
county and city wide. Tell us the max speed and power you want and
the vehicle will comply. We can negotiate installation of the lights
of your choice but we do not offer a standard light package. You
can also talk to us about building lower-power commuter oriented
electric or human-hybrid electric vehicles. Prices will be similar
to the Jackal. |
| How
reliable? |
The
Jackal is built around "off-the-shelf" proven components.
It does not rely on 'the latest' technologies that will develop
problems in the field. It is a 'bare bones' system based on simplicity,
few bells and whistles, less to go wrong. The electrical system
and mechanical structure are designed with considerable factor of
safety against failure due to normal loading. TS Motors has been
building electric drag race motorcycles for over 4 years, with stringent
technical criteria for race worthiness and rider safety. This experience,
craftsmanship and attention to detail has been directly applied
to the design and manufacture of the Jackal. Purchasing a vehicle
directly from TS Motors gives you direct contact with the hands
that put it together. We can answer your questions and provide service
and support for our products in the event of any problem. Please
refer to the Jackal Manual for more ownership and warranty information. |
| Why
the platform? |
The
platform serves multiple purposes. Click the link to find out more. |
| Do
I get a kickstand? |
No.
Kickstands are bad. On the Jackal they reduce ground clearance,
increasing chances of hang-up. They also invite people to use your
bike as a chair when you're not looking. |
| How
do I program it? |
RS-232
or 'straight-through' DB-9 pin connector to a serial port on your
PC. Must have Windows XP or NT and the free software from the manufacturer.
Connect to Jackal controller via program port on top of power pack,
no disassembly required. Change parameters such as output power,
throttle response rate and ramp shape, voltage limits, . . . in
seconds. *Do not charge the bike and program the controller at the
same time! |
