The Advanced Marine electric Propulsion Mark II C is a brushless DC motor that uses the Kelly KBL 48301 motor controller. This motor is rated to propel up to a 32’ sailboat and up to 15,000lbs of displacement, and offers 24v, 36v and 48v options at 3kw, 4kw and 5kw depending upon your needs for power.

Designed for the marine environment, the motor/controller units are sealed to 10' of temporary submersion, yet vented to dry air to maintain atmospheric pressure within the motor housing, relieving seal pressure and eliminating grease migration.

As a direct drive motor the shaft output is 1” keyed stainless steel extending 8” from the motor rear face and 5” up from the bottom of the motor housing and centered in the 9.375” width. The motor housing is 13.75" tall, 3.25" thick, and weighs 50 lbs.

Simple mountings can be fabricated from 2"x2" aluminum angle, or with 1/4" aluminum plates secured to both the motor and engine stringers. Isolation brackets to reduce motor vibration are included. Details on mounting can provided by contact@advancedmarineelectricpropulsion.com.

Included maneuvering logic controls comes in a hand held splash resistant enclosure. Logic power is controlled by a remote switch, and consumes a mere 40mA on standby (50mA with an LED power indicator).

The Kelly KBL 48301 motor controller is mounted on an aluminum heat sink and wired with a terminal strip preconfigured for installation. This unit is mounted on marine grade 16” by 11.25” plywood base for easy installation to your boat.

With a no-load speed of 1800rpm, the motor achieves peak output at 1,600rpm under load. Hull speed can require 2.5kW per ton of displacement, while 70% of hull speed requires just 500w per ton (credit to the Danes for the numbers). Props recommended for this power range of motor depend upon the size of boat and sailing requirements.

The Mark II C 3kw to 5kw motor is covered by a 5 year limited warranty, excluding over voltage and reverse polarity. The Kelly KBL 48301 motor controller is covered by Kelly’s 1 year warranty.
